Insider Tip
Because Pinterest is a digital platform, the measurement is always in pixels.
Regarding the size, the Width is first, followed by the Height. E.g. 1080 x 1920 would mean the Width = 1080 and the Height = 1920.

Pinterest Profile Photo
165w x 165h pixels
Format: JPG or PNG
What is a Pinterest Profile Photo?
- Use this space to promote your business.
- You can use your logo, photo or anything else that is unique to your brand.
- Due to the tight space, only use part of your logo.
- A Monogram version works well.
Pinterest Cover Photo (Business Account)
800w x 450h pixels
16: 9 Aspect Ratio
- You’ll need a Business Account to include a cover photo.
- It must be a static image, as videos are no longer accepted.
- Try a photo of your product or service and your ideal client using it.
Pinterest Board Covers
600w x 600h pixels
Format: JPG or PNG
- Although not necessary, we are huge fans of board covers.
- Board covers give your business account a professional and organised look.
- They also make it easier for your audience to quickly scan your account and find what topics they are interested in.
- Free Branding – promote your brand by incorporating your logo, fonts or images.
- Viewers become familiar with the look and feel of your brand.
Pin Format Update
Over the years, Pinterest has introduced different pin sizes. And along with these updates, the name they refer to them has also changed. They’ve called them Pins, Video Pins, Story Pins, Standard Pins and Idea Pins.
And as of July 2023, Pinterest has announced that they will refer to all pin formats at PINS.
Standard Pin
1000w x 1500h pixels
2:3 Aspect Ratio
- This is the size you’ll use the most.
- Traditionally they are static images.
- Standard pins are clickable, meaning you can link them back to your blog post or wherever you want their reference point.
Idea Pin
1080w x 1920h pixels
9:16 Aspect Ratio
- Idea pins are bite-sized pieces of information that offer value.
- Such as helping solve a problem with your How-to idea.
- They can be 1-20 frames long.
- LATEST UPDATE – Idea Pins can now be linked!
- Link the pin to a blog post or somewhere suitable on your website.
- Use them to gain followers, leverage your brand or show your expertise.
