There are two legal requirements every Website (including yours) must have. Is your website breaking the law by not having them? We don’t want that to happen. Instead, we’re explaining what they are and why you need to include them today.
Can’t afford a lawyer? Unfortunately, that excuse still doesn’t stop your website from being a lawbreaker. Don’t worry, we’ve got the perfect (legal) alternative.
Before we start – check out our Website Series below.
No matter how many episodes I intently watch of Judge Judy, this (unfortunately) doesn’t make me a Lawyer. And I don’t want you to fall into the same trap.
If you’re thinking “Oh I’ll just google, and copy and paste the legal stuff I need”. Let me explain, why and how, there’s a better and easier way.
When we first started our online business, I was clueless about the legal requirements. Actually, I was a little scared, about whether we were legally covered and doing the right thing.
But, who could I ask? When you’re in the early stages of your business, lawyers’ hourly rates don’t fit that well into a start-up budget. So I researched and found my “virtual lawyer”.
1. GDPR Compliant Terms & Conditions
2. A Privacy Policy
This protects you from breaking federal and international law.
Basically, this explains the HOW WHAT and WHY regarding the information you collect from visitors that come to your site.
This post contains affiliate links because we use and highly recommend contracts from The Contract Shop. Thoughts and opinions are our own.
After months of research, I discovered a way around having to hire our own lawyer, and that’s The Contract Shop. Professionally written templates by attorneys that you update with your details and add to your website. And like The Template Emporium designs, you’ll be shown step-by-step exactly what to do.
If you’re like us and living outside the USA, you’re probably thinking – oh, these contracts won’t work in my country. What made us decide to try them, is that the Attorney behind The Contract Shop, Christina Scalera, works with attorneys worldwide to make sure your template complies with your country’s laws. (How great is that!)
So you can relax knowing that your website is no longer a law-breaker!
For all our Template Emporium designs, we always recommend you update the Terms & Conditions page with a GDPR Compliant Terms & Conditions & Privacy Policy.
And we would never recommend anything that we haven’t tried ourselves. You can check out our Privacy Policy and the Terms and Conditions that we purchased from The Contract Shop and updated ourselves. (Don’t worry, they’ll show you exactly how to do it!)
Now your website is legally protected, the next step is launching. This blog will guide you through all the steps.
Whether you use our link or not, adding these legal aspects to your website today will give you a sense of relief knowing, that your website is no longer a law-breaker.
