When it comes to finding photos for your website, there are a lot of free resources available. But there’s a big difference between each resource. And, how do you know which ones are the best and worth signing up for?
Whenever we design one of our website templates (or need additional photos for our visual branding), these are the places we go to source the perfect pic.
Even if you have your own brand photos, use these free resources to sprinkle in some alternative pics. You may even discover some images that you would have never considered. Especially ones that would have taken too much time to create.
Unsplash is our favourite source for free photos online. All the images are also royalty and copyright-free.
Over the years, the quality and variety have improved out of sight. Especially since more experienced photographers add their work to this incredible platform.
Amy Shamblen is our go-to photographer. All her photos are fun and colourful. (As you see from her images above). Plus, being professionally shot and styled, her photos will give your website an elevated look.
On her Unsplash page, could you scroll down to find her free images? Otherwise, join Unsplash+ to gain access to even more from her collection.
Kaboompics is one of our latest finds. And we feel like it’s a hidden gem in the free photo resource world!
All photos are available for both personal and commercial use. And while Kaboompics might not be as big as some of the others in this blog, that’s one of the reasons we love it.
All the photos have a consistent look and feel. Plus their matching colour grading makes it stand out from other sites. That’s because they are all created by one person, the owner of the website, Karolina Grabowska.
You can search through thousands of individual photos, or search through the entire photoshoot – which means even more options.
And when you join the Secret Kaboompics club you’ll gain access to free mockups and stock videos that you won’t find anywhere else. Below are some of Kaboompics.
An easy way to say thanks or credit Karolina is to tag @kaboompics. Or include #kaboompics when you use her photos on your social posts. Another way is to add ‘Photo by Kaboompics’ with a link back to kaboompics.com
Pixabay is the perfect pick. It offers a spectacular selection of photos, illustrations, vectors, videos, music, sound effects and gifs.
Before you can download any of the above, you will need to sign up. The incredible selection of over 4.1 million high-quality stock images, videos, and music is worth the effort of joining.
When searching for music for our reels on Instagram, Pixabay was my first stop. After discovering Serge Quadrado, he is our favourite music creator. His upbeat music selections match our branding. Check him and other creators out at Pixabay.
For the free creative Rawpixel resources, these are the conditions. You can download up to 9 photos, vector graphics, PSD mockups, templates and PNG elements a day.
This also includes the Public Domain and Art section. This is a spectacular selection of stunning, high-resolution artworks in a variety of genres. Check out some of the images below.
Rawpixel also offers a Premium paid option for an even greater selection of photo stock imagery and design resources.
Before you start searching, (unless you want to view the paid content), ensure you click on the Free or Public Domain tab at the top of the website to access it.
Here’s how to distinguish between free and paid content, click on the image:
– All paid content has a black circle with a gold crown in the right corner
– All free content has a green box with the words Free in the right corner.
We recently found this new resource and wanted to share it with you.
They describe their images as free public domain and stock images for everyone.
